There are two types of statuses that relate to members
Type 1
Financial/Unfinancial
Type 2
Active, Inactive or Pending.
The 2 statuses affect members in different ways
If a member is marked unfinancial then a red
sign is displayed next to the icon indicating their status, it has no other effect. Financial members do not have the red dollar sign displayed.
A member's status, on the other hand, affects their ability to login to the member self-service portal and inclusion in the sending of bulk renewals. Member must be Active to login and to receive bulk renewals. Inactive members will not receive bulk renewal notices and cannot login unless your system has been configured to allow inactive members to login.
Typical usage for each would be to mark someone as unfinancial when they have failed to pay by the due date and then to set them as inactive when any grace period for renewal has expired.
There is also the ability to archive members, but this is best reserved for when you do not expect the member to rejoin in the future eg. they have deceased, retired or left the industry.
