Classifications are "tags" recorded against a Member and can be used in reporting and mail generation to identify groups of members. Each is recorded as a Classification and a sub Classification Type value.
Your Classifications and Classification Types are set up under Administration / System Configuration / Classifications.
When adding or editing a Classification in administration, you can:
- Give it a Classification name.
- Include optional help text, which will appear in a helper icon in Self Service.
- Choose if the Classification is available for the member to manage themself in self service.
- Choose if the Classification will be asked on public forms, such as the public event booking form, merchandise purchases and newsletter subscription form (if enabled on that form)
- Self Service label, which can be different to the name
- The maximum number of responses, or Classification Types, that a member can have for this Classification. Unlimited by default.
- The list of Classification Types available for this Classification.
Classifications can be recorded against a member in two ways:
Admin
To add or edit a Classification and Classification Type on a Member record;
- Click on the Edit button which is found on the horizontal Classifications bar located on the Member Profile page.
- Select the Classification from the Drop Menu.
- Select the Classification Type from the Drop Menu.
- Click on the Add hyperlink
- From this screen you may also edit or remove currently linked Classifications.
- Click the Return button to go back to the Members screen
Self Service
If a Classification is available in Self Service or on a public form, this will be displayed as a drop-down with a single or multiple select option, depending on what limit is set on the configuration of the Classification. Note that if a classification is available in self service AND part of a member directory configuration, the classification will also be dispalyed on the member directory edit self service view.
