Establishing Child-Parent relationships enables you to create a single level hierarchy identifying a relationship between two members and, potentially, a member who is responsible for the payment of subscription invoices for other Members. This could represent a group of companies where the subsidiaries are members but the head office pays for the subscription. It can also be the case where an employer may pay for the subscription for some of its employees where the employee is the member (do not confuse this with Employer Deductions). Child-parent relationships can also be used to provide the subscribed member with multiple member directory listings/locations which they can manage themself in Self Service.
To enable Child-Parent relationships and Parent Invoicing, check the Company Setting switch titled Activate Parent Invoicing. (Note that child members subscription, if one exists must the set to be invoiced to the parent for the parent to be invoiced for that subscription. Invoice type subscriptions must be used in this scenario
Establish the Parent Member
If Parent member is activated; on the Member Profile screen there is a Set Parent (if the member does not currently have a parent assigned) or Change Parent (If the member currently has a parent) link. By clicking this you are able to search and select the Parent member record. You can clear an existing Parent relationship by clicking the Clear Parent link.
View Linked (‘Child’) Members
On the Member Profile screen of the Parent Member, you can click the Child Members link. This will display a list of all the ‘child’ members and the subscriptions that are linked.
You can access the child member or their subscription records by clicking on the entries in this list.
Select the Member Subscriptions
Each member subscription on the ‘child’ member has a tick box called Parent Invoicing. Selecting this will cause subscription invoices for this subscription to be issued against the parent record.
Note:
- Parent Invoicing is only available for Invoice subscriptions, it is not available for Renewal Invitations.
