You can automate (on renewal) the succession of a Member from one Subscription to another. This can be relevant where, after a predetermined period of time the rules of the organisation dictate that the Member should move onto a new subscription (e.g. Student to Full Member). These subscription "rules" need to be set up as part of the subscription type configuration.
Within Administration / System Configuration / Subscriptions, when adding or editing a subscription code, you can define a Successor Subscription and a default Succession Period.
The Successor Subscription is the subscription that the member will be moved to once the succession date has been reached.
The Succession Period is used to set the default value Succession Date on the Member Subscription record. This can be modified if needed.
The Successor Subscription will be activated (and the current Subscription stopped) at the end of the renewal period for the current Subscription when the end date of the current Subscription is equal to or exceeds the Succession date.
You will see in the listing whether a Subscription has a Successor with the
icon displayed to the left of the Subscription Code.
Note this functionality must be enabled in Company Settings before it can be accessed.
