You can add, edit existing or delete custom fields under Administration / System Configuration / Custom Fields.
Select the Section you want to manage the custom fields for. The options are:
- Member (Includes member custom tabs)
- Organisation
- Person
- Event Attendee
Then:
- Click New Custom Field button to add a new custom field (see supported custom field types below), OR
- Click edit next to an existing custom field to edit the settings of that custom field. Note you cannot modify the types of an existing custom field, OR
- Click delete to delete an existing custom field including all of the values stored against it.
- If you have more than one existing custom field, reorder them using the up and down arrows.
MemNet supports the following custom field types. Depending on the type selected, you can set appropriate validation for the values entered against that field:
- Text - Single line of text
- Number - Accepts numbers only. You can configure the number of decimal places to be recorded.
- Dollar - Formatted as currency ($). Recorded to 2 decimal places (cents)
- Percentage - Formatted as a percentage (%)
- Combo box - Displayed as a drop-down box. Options are to be provided in the field configuration.
- Check box - Single checkbox. Used for true/false or Yes/No responses. It can be used multiple times to create a checkbox list.
- Date - Displays a date picker and records the result as a date.
- Hyperlink - Formats result as a hyperlink (URL)
- Text box - Multiple Lines of Text. Unlimited in size.
- Image - displays a file upload that accepts image formats. The image is displayed as a thumbnail and can be viewed larger in a lightbox by clicking on it.
- File - allows a file to be uploaded
- Lookup - allows the user to look up another member's name and code by entering either their member code or an alternate id. Please consider the privacy implications of making custom fields of this type available in Member Self Service.

Custom fields can be created against members (including custom tabs), people, organisations (or whatever that have been renamed as) and event attendees.
Once event attendee custom fields have been configured, select the fields you want to collect when setting up registration types and options within an event.
The following settings are available for all custom field types:
- Mandatory. Checkbox. If a value is required for this custom field.
- Admin Display Only. Checkbox. Value is not editable within MemNet admin. Used when the field is managed by an external process such as a script.
- Self Service. Checkbox. The field is displayed to the member in self-service.
- Self Service Display Only. Checkbox. When checked in combination with the previous checkbox the field is not editable by the member. The field is editable by the member if this checkbox is unchecked.
- Hide Label. Checkbox. Prevents the label for the field from being displayed. Used for displaying a list of values.
- Default Value. Allows a default value to be set for this custom field. Can be blank.
