Enabling the Shopping Cart

The MemNet Shop Cart / Merchandise section enables a simple but integrated Shopping Cart to be made available to website Visitors (Public and/or logged in Members). This section will appear if you have this option licensed.

To enable the Shopping Cart go to Administration / System Configuration / Company Settings / Shop Cart/Merchandise. on this page you can enable the Shopping Cart and configure how you would like it to work. There are the following options:

Option	Description
Disable Public Access	If you tick this then it will disable access to the shopping cart to anyone who has not logged in as a Member or Admin.
Create New Member Type	Select the Member Type you want the Membership record to be set to when one is created for a non–logged buyer on the Shopping Cart
New Member Status	The status that the new member record is to be set to.
Ask/Create New member Logins	If ticked a public user will be prompted for a Username to provide them a login to the website.
Enable Shipping Costs	If ticked Shipping costs will be calculated for an order.
Select Shipping Cost Product	The Shipping Cost product determines the accounts code for the shipping costs to be allocated to. You will need to create this as a product before you can select it, the shipping product does not need to be available online.
Minimum Shipping Cost	Each product ordered calculates its own Shipping cost based on the quantity of the product and the shipping cost set on that product. The value set here will be used as the minimum shipping cost on an order
Maximum Shipping Cost	Each product ordered calculates its own Shipping cost based on the quantity of the product and the shipping cost set on that product. The value set here will be used as the maximum shipping cost on an order
Upper Shipping Tolerance	If the overall shipping cost exceeds this upper tolerance level the order will be filled using the Maximum Shipping Cost but a message will be displayed saying that the shipping cost is estimated and we will be in touch if the shipping cost value has to be adjusted. This will typically be more than the Maximum Shipping Cost.
Display Product Images	Thumbnail images can be recorded against products. If this is ticked the thumbnail images will be displayed to the left of the product description.
Confirmation Email	Allows you to customise the content of the purchase confirmation email that is sent to the Purchaser.
Header and Footer	There is an HTML Editor available if you would like to customise a header and footer for the Shopping Cart facility. It can be implemented as a link on your website that opens a new window.
