Mobile phone numbers recorded in MemNet can have one of 3 states: Unverified (not yet verified), Valid or Invalid. The SMS functionality will only send messages to Unverified and Valid Mobile phone numbers.
Numbers will be validated each time a message is sent and the state of the number updated accordingly.
You can pre-validate your mobile phone numbers in bulk by navigating to Administration> Housekeeping > Validate Mobile Phone Numbers.
From this screen, you can filter your search for particular member types, member status' or individual phone numbers. Click Search Mobile Phones to perform the search. This will list all members that fit the search criteria, their phone number and a symbol to represent their validation status.
- A green check mark means that this member's phone number has been tested and is valid.
- A red cross means that this members phone number has been tested and was found to not be valid.
- A blue question mark means that the members phone number has not yet been tested and is unverified.
If you are satisfied with the search results, at the bottom of the screen you have two options for validating phone numbers.
- By Format Only: This will check to see that the mobile phone number listed for each member in the search results is in the correct format for an Australian mobile number. Ten digits, 04 at the start. This validation is performed on all new phone numbers when they are added to MemNet. If the number fails this validation, it will still be saved but marked as invalid to receive SMS.
- Network Lookup: This will query the network attached to the number provided and request details on whether the number is active. This will incur a fee on you MessageMedia Account. This level of validation is automatically provided when a message is sent to the number.
